Pigmented Finish Plaster with Fiber (page 101)

Cat-tail fluff makes a nice fiber addition to this recipe and can be had for free (unlike hemp, which is hard to source). Use about a half of a stalk in a large tub. Store it on the stalks, and loosen it directly into the mix.

This recipe works best when applied in two thin passes (especially for novice plasterers). Apply one very thin coat, then as soon as it isn’t sticky and wet, apply a second thin coat over top. It may be ready to second coat immediately, or 1-2 hours later depending on substrate and drying conditions.

The water given in the sample recipe (14 L) may be a little too high – I recommend starting with 13-13.25 L water (water requirement will vary depending on the exact sand and clay used, among other things)
